Well a mobility scooter is being delivered tomorrow. I have put off getting one for as long as possible but it is time. As soon as I agreed my partner ordered the one that seemed the best choice that night online, before I could change my mind Tongue

I am still going to only use it when essential. It's one of the ones that can go in the boot of a car, and I still plan to only use it as really necessary.

Obviously I have never used one before, other than trying one for about two minutes. Is there anything it would be helpful to know?

It's this one

Well done. You may find its 1 of the best purchases you've ever made.
Mine makes such a difference to the fatigue levels. In theory I can keep up with
friends but usually I'm ahead of my husband.
1. Don't go faster than you can stop instantly. Jay walkers are the biggest worry along
with jay stoppers.!! You really need your wits about you at all times.
2. Approach kerbs at 90 degrees on. Any less and you will topple.
3. I keep meaning to get a mirror so I can see behind me.

I hope you are a car driver as all the skills are needed. Good Luck it makes ALL the difference

reminded me i hired one from mobility events .. nothing like your one, but they were very efficient all done on line and it was waiting for me.

it was huge but got me around Woburn Golf Club to enjoy an Old Masters Golf Tournament with the like's of Sam Torrance, it was the first time i had ever used one and i got on OK, even though the paths were very gravelly. my Hubby would never have been able to push me around in my normal wheelchair.

would definately have the confidence to do that again, love watching golf and my hubby plays.

Thanks for the replies.

I tried it out yesterday. Overall, I think I did ok. But because you sit on it, move facing forward, holding handle bars, I automatically react as though I am on a bike and grip to stop, like you do with bike brakes... except that's the accelerator Scared Blink

I will get the hang of it though, it is better than I thought it would be.

I forgot mine had hand controls, and searched for the brake with my foot!! As a result I drove into a bench, and my husband couldn`t stop laughing.

Happy scootering,
